| Good Relations Youth Award (Under 25)
Voice of Young People in Care was established for exclusively charitable purposes; namely to ensure that the general welfare and interests of care experienced children and young people are advanced.
VOYPIC is an independent children’s charity that promotes the rights and voice of children in care and care leavers to change lives and improve outcomes. We believe that every child in care should experience positive relationships, stability, and be empowered to transform their life. We listen and learn from what children and young people tell us about their experience of care and work in partnership with them to influence legislation, policy and practice.
During the year the charity focusses on three major priorities.
Advocacy: helping children and young people to actively take part in decisions made about their care.
Participation: Through group work, coaching and personal support we help care experienced young people to develop their confidence, skills and experience whilst assisting them to connect with their peers and build social support networks.
Influencing Change: We recognise that children and young people with lived experience of care are the experts in their own lives; improving the way we care for children can only be achieved by listening to them.
